With a record of 9 victories and one loss, the D2 men’s volleyball team was first in the rankings before yesterday’s tournament at Marianopolis College.
Yesterday’s tournament represented an interesting challenge for Rob Pemberton’s squad since they had to successively face John Abbott, Montmorency and St-Jean, all teams in the top 5 of the league.
The day started off badly for our volleyball players. In the first set of the match against John Abbott, the Islanders quickly had the upper hand 16-25. Despite a tighter 2nd set (22-25), the Blues lost 2 to 0.
Dawson quickly returned to his good habits by winning his other two games of the day. First, the team defeated Montmorency 25-17 and 25-22, then St-Jean 25-21, 19-25 and 20-18.
The team thus remains in first place in the standings with a record of 11-2.
The next tournament will be presented on February 11 at Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf.
Avec un dossier de 9 victoires et un revers, l’équipe de volleyball masculin D2 trônait au premier du classement avant le tournoi d’hier présenté au Collège Marianopolis.
Le tournoi d’hier représentait un défi intéressant pour la troupe de Rob Pemberton puisqu’elle devait se mesurer de façon successive à John Abbott, Montmorency et St-Jean, toutes des équipes figurant dans le top 5 de la ligue.
La journée a mal débuté pour nos volleyeurs. Au premier set du match contre John Abbott, les Islanders ont rapidement eu le dessus 16-25. Malgré un 2e set plus serré (22-25), les Blues se sont inclinés 2 à 0.
Dawson a rapidement repris ses bonnes habitudes en remportant ses deux autres parties de la journée. Premièrement, elle a défait Montmorency 25-17 et 25-22, puis St-Jean 25-21, 19-25 et 20-18.
L’équipe demeure ainsi au premier rang du classement avec une fiche de 11-2.
Le prochain tournoi sera présenté le 11 février au Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf.
